King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

In the Court of the Crimson King (an observation by King Crimson) is the 1969 debut album by the British progressive rock group King Crimson. The album reached #3 on the British charts. The album is certified gold in the United States.

The album is generally viewed as one of the strongest of the progressive rock genre, where blues-oriented rock was mixed together with jazz and European symphonic elements. In his 1997 book Rocking the Classics, critic/musicologist Edward Macan notes that In the Court of the Crimson King "may be the most influential progressive rock album ever released."The Who's Pete Townshend was quoted as calling the album "an uncanny masterpiece".

The album was remastered and re-released on vinyl and CD several times during the 1980s and 1990s. The original stereo master tapes were finally located in a Virgin Records storage vault in 2003, leading to a much improved remastered CD version released in 2004.

Zach Kamins: Guitar, Keyboard, Bass.
Andy Gentile: Drums.

The two met each other at Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Houston, Texas. Influenced by all types of music, the two frequented in hours long of progressive, improvisational jam sessions.

An opportunity came to them to make an appearance on the Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland in-game soundtrack. They took the opportunity, and featured the song “Sun of Pearl,” which was entirely composed through the internet while Andy lived in Los Angeles, California, and Zach lived in Houston, Texas. They also where on Guitar Hero 3, and World tour.

Anti - Defy The System

Photobucket

Highly recommended 80's LA Punk/Hardcore. Much better than their first LP, DEFY THE SYSTEM has more melodies, better songs. Great west coast punk/HC.

From their 1st LP (I Don't Want To Die In Your War LP...described as "Simple 3-chord hardcore from a time where everybody tried to be the fastest") the guys seem to have learned since their last album, they at least now know four chords, which are also displayed a bit better, the speed was somewhat curtailed, the sound was very, very good. Now at last you can hear where the band comes from: California, the lyrics are very committed, but everywhere one hears the more trendy Ca / LA sound (see Lost Cause). Not bad, sometimes sounds almost like a simpler version of the early Circle Jerks, Social Distortion, with a would-Posh Boy-production. Get this now!--FLEX

Manson Youth - Death Dance EP

Photobucket

Good old west coast sound à la Social Dee or Adolescents, but a lot more "hardcore". Noisy melodic HC. 1000 made, hand numbered, black and gold vinyl. Old recordings from '83 or so. Not to be confused with the German 'Manson Youth' (of course)--FLEX

The Misfits - Earth A.D

Photobucket

Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (usually just called Earth A.D.) was the last album The Misfits recorded with Glenn Danzig. It was released in December 1983, two months after they played their last concert with Danzig. It was noticeably harder and faster than their previous releases. The themes were also quite darker than the previous releases, featuring often gory and demonic lyrics.

Originally released as a 9 song LP, it was later issued with the three tracks of the Die, Die My Darling EP incorporated into the track listing.

In several print and radio interviews, Glenn Danzig has said that the tracks "Bloodfeast" and "Death Comes Ripping" were originally intended for Samhain's first release, but were added to what would be the Misfits' final record in a last-ditch effort to save the band.

Metallica covered "Die, Die My Darling" for their 1998 cover album Garage Inc, as well as "Green Hell", which was originally covered by Metallica for their 1987 album, Garage Days Re-Revisited, as part of a medley with "Last Caress".

Bad Brains - Bad Brains

Photobucket

Legendary hardcore-punk album from 1982, considered the definitive landmark for breaking the NYC hardcore scene. All material on this CD was recorded at 171-A Studios, NYC, during August, September, and October 1981, except "Pay to Cum," "I Luv I Jah," "Jah Clling Dub" recorded live at 171-A on May 16, 1981.

The Bad Brains are the most underrated rock band of last 15-20 years, notorious for breaking up right when it seems that they could conquer the world. The regulated, tempermental roar of their thrashier punk songs coupled with their radically contrasting junkets into dub and reggae have forever raised them to an untouchable, almost god-like musical plateau. The lofty convictions that often put off the masses from "hardcore" do not hold for the Bad Brains who get away with their Rastafarian and overtly political views. "PMA" (Positive Mental Attitude) is the overriding philosophy of the Bad Brains trip taken from the Napoleon Hill Book "Think and Grow Rich"- it can also be translated into standing up against wrongs that need to be righted. It goes without saying that the Bad Brains shattered musical, cultural and racial barriers
